Description

Arizona’s scenic beauty, historic sites, transportation network, and major attractions are skillfully compiled in this attractive pictorial map of the state, issued around 1958 as a souvenir mailer. Illustrated geographic features, landmarks, and urban centers provide a wonderful visual overview, while cartoon figures in a variety of amusing situations add elements of humor and whimsy throughout. The verso features text and color photographs further advertising the variety of activities available in the Grand Canyon State.

The image was drawn by Don Bloodgood and published in San Francisco by H.S. Crocker Co. Inc. Bloodgood created a number of similar promotional pictorial maps covering numerous different states and cities, all designed in the same distinctive style.
