Description
This interesting map of Europe was created by Thomas Bowen and published around 1787. It offers a somewhat abstract overview of Europe near the end of the Age of Enlightenment. An interesting variety of settlements and geographic features are labeled. Regional borders are noted with a small dotted line, though it’s somewhat difficult to tell absolute national boundaries. A handful of mountain peaks are scattered throughout the image, though the Alps are noticeably smaller than the Urals (Kamennyy Poyas) in the upper right.
