Description

This attractive and legible map of the Holy Land was designed by George Rollos in London around 1780 and was published for inclusion in the Universal Bible in the book of Matthew. It shows the eastern coast of the Mediterranean between Egyptian territory and Sidon and inland to the Jordan River and beyond.

Numerous toponyms and pictorial elements emphasize notable moments from the life of Jesus according to the New Testament; including Nazareth, Bethlehem, the wilds of Judea, and Mt. Beatitudes. Other Biblical locales like Sodom and Gomorrah (both ruins), Jericho, and Arimathea are also labeled.
