Description
This appealing pictorial map of Great Britain and Northern Ireland was published by the British Tourist Authority in 1972. The United Kingdom’s royal lineage is on full display, with flashy heraldic crests, illustrations of famous monarchs, and views of several palaces. The evolution of the crown is noted in a special inset in the center-left.
The map was designed and distributed as part of a broader 1970s promotional campaign to leverage Britain’s history to appeal to an international audience of tourists. Sponsored by British Airways and printed by W.S. Cowell Ltd.
