Description

Originally published in a 1938 issue of The Lincolnite, this pictorial map of Ravenswood, Chicago was later reproduced in the 1990s by the Historical East Ravenswood Committee. It shows the trendy neighborhood, one of Chicago’s first, (and most exclusive) commuter suburbs, East of Old Green Bay Road between Waveland and Bryn Mawr Avenue using a clever perspective that allows the audience to appreciate the local architecture.

Dozens of locations are numbered, presumably referenced in the original accompanying article, though many businesses and historical sites are also labeled. Of particular interest is the village of Chief Raven (center right), “The ‘first’ resident of Ravenswood.”
