Description

This interesting felt mat was originally issued, likely with a set of coasters, as a souvenir for attendees of the 1933 Century of Progress Exposition in Chicago. Organized to celebrate the city’s 100th anniversary, the fair proved so popular that it was extended for another season into 1934.

The theme was technological innovation, thus it’s fitting that the primary image should be a view of The Hall of Science. Surrounding the building are charming illustrations of other highlights, which include art, science, literature, and more.
