Description
This uncommon assortment of printed materials was distributed by the 1977 Inaugural Committee – presumably in Washington, D.C. to attendees of Jimmy Carter’s inauguration that January. A large folding map of the national capital prominently emphasizes local transportation options and labels streets, geographic features, and numerous locations of interest – over 100 in total are identified at the bottom. The verso shows a small plan of Carter’s inauguration route through the city, from the Executive Office to the Capitol Building.
The map is accompanied by a 16-page Inaugural Guide with information on the incoming president, the host city, the history of the inaugural tradition, and much more. Also included is a catalog of commemorative items and the corresponding order form, all with an original mailing envelope addressed to a couple in Tampa, FL.
A neat group of items celebrating ‘The Peanut President.’
