Description
This detailed oil atlas of California was published in Bellflower by the appropriately named Oil Field Map Books, Inc. in 1957. Just four years prior, the deepest well in the world was drilled near Richmond and the state was on track to surpass Texas in oil production.
Over 100 pages offer dozens of maps showing major oil-producing areas, cities, and specially designated areas. Infrastructure like pipelines, wells, etc. are heavily emphasized, but the images also note major property owners, prominent landmarks, and more.
