Description
This is a map of the United States that shows the locations and types of various military depots in the year 1950. Concentration of materiale is heaviest on the East Coast, with the West containing mostly scattered Ordnance depots away from large population centers. It was superimposed on a 1943 railway map of the United States, which makes sense, since the rail lines would have been the primary source of domestic transport prior to the implementation of the Interstate Highway System later in the decade.
According to the title, the map was used as subject matter for a course at the Command and Staff General College in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. This graduate school for American Army officers was established by William Tecumseh Sherman as a cavalry school in 1881 and continues to educate using maps like this today.
