Description

This charming ‘town map’ depicts one of the infinite possibilities made available through LEGO Fabuland sets. The discounted product line was aimed at children ages 3-7 and sought to bridge the gap between Duplo and standard LEGO blocks. The storybook-style theme featured anthropomorphic animals (with movable bodies), a bright primary color scheme, and a variety of novel pieces (like roofs). Its popularity saw an extension into associated merchandise and a television show – some of LEGO’s earliest attempts at diversifying their market.

The promotional map was illustrated by Jerry Smith, with the artist’s name visible in the lower right. Created for Lego Systems, Inc. in 1982 by Rivercross Learning Corporation. Originally issued with an accompanying story book and record, unfortunately, not present.
