Description
This attractive illuminated manuscript was created anonymously and likely issued in a 14th-century breviary or antiphonal. These expensive volumes, expertly crafted by hand, contained the sung portions of the Divine Office and were large in size so they could be more easily read by a choir.
Each side presents six verses, handwritten text and block musical notes, in a combination of black and red ink. One particularly attractive littera florissa shows the letter P, while the verso features the marginal title ‘Augusti.’
