This scarce wall map highlights the Protestant evangelical efforts of the Missionary Education Movement of the U.S. and Canada in the early 1920s. The Empire of Japan is colored in bright orange, encompassing the entire Korean peninsula, Taiwan, and Port Arthur. The locations of dozens of mission stations are labeled throughout, with a comprehensive index in the lower right noting the various sponsoring societies present in each town.
The map is rare and listed in only 3 institutions in WorldCat as of June 2025, at the Newberry Library, the University of Illinois, and Columbia University. The holdings of the American Philosophical Society show a similar map, also by Boggs, was printed in 1924, though the title is changed to ‘Showing Mission Stations Except Roman Catholic.’ Source:

Condition Description: Printed map with hand colored updates on a large single sheet of paper with sharp creasing along originally issued folds. A few small closed tears and splits along the seams have been repaired and reinforced on the verso. Some wrinkling and small pinholes at fold intersections, plus faint discoloration from the green printed ink. Pinholes in the corners and light marginal wear, consistent with age and use. Good to very good condition overall.
