Description
This striking celebration of the United States Space Program was published in the mid-1960s by C.S. Hammond & Company. The Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo Programs are outlined with colorful illustrations and explanatory captions. Each phase of spaceflight is explored in some detail, from the first launch of the Atlas rocket to the hopeful lunar exploration and successful atmospheric re-entry. Portraits of the Mercury Seven, America’s first astronauts, can be seen in the lower left.
The sheet, with its overwhelming optimism and bold display of the Saturn V rocket, was likely issued shortly before the tragedy of the Apollo I mission (1967), in which Grissom, Roger Chaffee, and Ed White tragically died in a cabin fire during a launch rehearsal.

Condition Description: Large single-sided poster with moderate wear along originally issued folds, including about 3" of clean splits repaired on the verso. Tiny pinholes in each corner and a small circular tear in the lower center, affecting the text. A bit of creasing obscures some of the image, but overall in good condition.
