[Map of the Battlefronts #3 – Israel]
Hebrew map showing the Arab-Israeli War.

Description
This interesting map was one of four published around 1948/1949 that show the development of the First Arab-Israeli War. A legend in the upper left notes the lines used to identify the borders of the State of Israel according to the Partition Plan of 1947 (note the ambiguous eastern edge). Directions of military movement and settlements are also shown. The bold red arrow indicates support coming from the members of the Jewish diaspora. An inset in the lower right presents an outline of Jerusalem, noting the location of various buildings including hotels, the Rockefeller Museum, banks, and government offices – surprisingly few religious sites. Copywritten c. 1949 by Dr. J. Szaprio in Tel-Aviv.
