This fascinating WWII history tells the story of the 331st Combat Team; comprised of the 331st Infantry Regiment, the 908th Field Artillery Battalion, the 308th Engineers, and the 308th Medical Battalion. The unit traveled approximately 1,400 miles across the European Theater of Operations, from its landing on Omaha Beach to linking up with the Red Army near the Elbe River. En route, fierce resistance was encountered by German defenders, with the subsequent actions documented in detail with descriptive text and photographs. Several of the images are quite gruesome, with scenes of concentration camps and dead soldiers on the battlefield. Also included in the volume are portraits of commanding officers, a list of awards, a full unit roster (including non-battle casualties), and a fold-out route map.
