This interesting piece of wartime homefront amusement was published around 1942 by Thompson Products, Inc. of Cleveland. A double-sided puzzle of approximately 150 pieces was designed for use as a visual aid in identifying Allied planes, as well as a geographic reference with a brightly colored political map on the verso.
One side of the puzzle displays an illustration designed by noted commercial aviation artist Charles Herman Hubbell that depicts an OS2U-1 floatplane being launched from a ship-based catapult. The ‘Kingfisher’ was a popular scout and reconnaissance aircraft that was capable of assisted takeoff from cruisers and battleships. The opposite side presents a detailed map of much of the Western Hemisphere and South Pacific Ocean.

Condition Description: Square-cut puzzle printed on both sides, with original paper envelope that shows heavy wear and toning from age. Completeness unverified, but a scan included with the old packaging indicates that one piece of the approximately 150 overall are missing. About good condition.
