Flags of the Nations
$95.00
Large diagram showing flags of various countries around the world in the mid-1970’s.
Description
This chart, on one hand, is a lovely display of the myriad of flags that make up nations of the modern world. But it also acts as a static representation of the constantly changing system of global political organization. Upon a close inspection, the reader of this chart can spot North and South Vietnam, the Democratic People’s Republic of Yemen, and the U.S.S.R. – all of which no longer exist. Many countries in Africa were newly liberated from their European colonial overlords, such as Mauritius (1968) and Zimbabwe (1965). Others, like Mozambique, Angola and Namibia have yet to appear on the world stage and would not “earn” their flag until subsequent independence.
On the verso of the chart are full color illustrations showing various peoples of the world.
