Vienna

A rather impractical guide to Vienna, issued by a Canadian railroad company.

This simple guidebook was issued by the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) and provides a brief overview of Vienna’s highlights. A short list of suggested places to visit, excursions, and other landmarks is followed by an index of all embassies and consulates for various countries served by the CPR’s Atlantic liners. The final three pages are blank, reserved for memoranda.

A detailed folding map is provided attached to the back cover, but its German language makes its hard for all but a local to comprehend. Since advertisements on the inside of the front cover promise ‘through bookings to all points’, it’s likely that this slapdash production was assembled as an inexpensive method to provide up to date information to tourists headed to Vienna via the CPR and its subsidiaries.
