Description
This tremendous flowchart diagrams the operational life of many of the earliest automobile manufacturers from around the globe. As time proceeds from left to right, the early industry pioneers branch into a complex web of commercial enterprises. Major improvements, model releases, and company re-organizations are detailed in decade-long blocks with generalized titles indicating chronological trends (e.g. Period of Refinement, War Production, etc.).
The bottom of the sheet provides a visual history of the automobile’s development, with illustrations of major milestones from the earliest 19th century iterations to the late 1950’s. Designed and published by W.O. MacIlvain in 1959.
