Nouveau Paris Monumental

Iconic foldout map of Parisian monuments and transit system.

This map was published in a number of various iterations beginning in 1878 for the Exposition Universelle. This particular version is from circa 1908 (determined by the Metro stops depicted under construction) and focuses on the historic walled center of Paris (shaded in pink) bisected by the Seine River. Profile views of dozens of major monuments throughout the city are the highlight of the map, while the outer suburbs and forests are depicted in a more “natural” shade of green. On the verso is a similarly designed map showing birds eye views of chateaus, cathedrals, and other attractions in the region around Paris.
