Description

Despite being engraved by the self-proclaimed “leading map engravers in the country,” this map of Washington D.C. was relatively dated at the time it was re-issued in 1924. Several obsolete references, such as the Executive Mansion and New National Museum, persisted through the updates from the 1901 original.

The map still provides a practical overview and guide to the capital, dividing the city into four quadrants that are referenced in the index in the upper right. Instructions for use on the “Standard Guide’s Marginal Reference System” are provided under the title.
