Description

According to Winston Churchill, the Battle of Singapore was the “worst disaster” in British history, and the loss of the city to the Japanese in February of 1942 had numerous ramifications for subsequent events of World War II.

This map, issued in Japanese, was published anonymously, likely in the months immediately following the Allied capitulation. A legend identifying various types of fortifications and defensive structures can be seen in the lower right, while coastal minefields, supply depots, and other military installations are labeled individually in the image.
