Description

This rare diagram presents an illustrated cutaway and bird’s eye view of Seabrook Station, a proposed nuclear power plant in New Hampshire. Twenty-two separate buildings and eighty-four individual components are identified within, showing the highly complex operations of the plant.

Text in the upper right notes the twin pressurized water reactor units are capable of generating 1,150 megawatts of electricity each. Though this was the case according to the original plans, finalized in 1972, but construction delays, legal proceedings, financial issues, and public uncertainty from the Three Mile Island Accident of 1979 led to the cancellation of the second reactor after it was only 25% complete in 1984.

I’ve been unable to conclusively date the print or find another example for further reference, but there is an artist’s signature in the lower left attributing the view to William J. Wallace.
