Like all else, cartography is a product of capitalism; so if you didn’t pay up, you were left out of this illustrated map of Reno, Nevada. It was created by Village Maps, Inc. in 1987 on behalf of the Reno Chamber of Commerce, so it’s possible that the businesses included within the image and in the directory on the verso were all members.
Between profile views and billboard advertisements are verdant green fields and lush wooded trails – a rosy picture for a city situated in the desert.
