Description
“The vast resources of Nature coupled with the genius of man have transformed Newport Harbor into the finest all-year-round playground on the Pacific Coast.”
This colorful view of Southern California’s Newport Harbor was designed in 1939 by Glaude G. Putnam and published by the local Chamber of Commerce two years later. The audience is encouraged to ‘Come and Play on Newport Bay!’ with a variety of outdoor recreational activities like fishing, swimming, and sailing.
A pictorial bird’s eye view shows the coastline between Newport Heights and Corona del Mar, with an inset showing Los Angeles a mere 40 miles, or 60 minutes, away. Wishful thinking in the traffic of today! The verso offers descriptive text and photographs about the various ‘treasures’ to be found across the region.
