Description
This detailed lithographic map of the United States highlights the breadth of public lands across the country, including the Alaska Territory. Brown shading covers nearly every acre, with the exception of the original 13 colonies, Kentucky, Tennessee, Texas, and the Indian Territory.
Topography is shown in hachure and the nation’s hydrological system is highlighted in blue. Large towns and cities are individually labeled, but otherwise details are relatively limited.
The map was published in 1884 to accompany the Annual Report of the General Land Office. Lithography by N. Peters of Washington, D.C.
