Description

This attractive pictorial map of Maine uses a variety of colorful vignettes to highlight the rich history and bountiful recreational opportunities available across the state. Scrollwork labels identify important historical sites and events, primary agricultural exports, and various parks and natural attractions. Hunting, fishing, and, of course, lobsters, are featured prominently throughout.

A note from the governor, Louis Brann, extends a cordial invitation for the audience “to attend Maine Visitors’ Day at the Capitol on August 17, 1934.”

The charming image was designed by M.C. Linscott and published by the Maine State Highway Department. A detailed road map, mileage chart, and truncated list of Maine’s motor vehicle laws can be found on the verso.
