Description

This colorful little pocket map of Manhattan highlights the incremental distances from the 23rd Street Ferry Station of the Pennsylvania Railroad across the island. Streets, parks, and steamships routes are labeled throughout, but otherwise, there is minimal detail within the image.

Accompanying rates are provided on the cover for the various means of horse-drawn conveyances available, such as a Hansom cab (25 cents for the first 1.5 miles) or a 4-Wheeler (40 cents for the first 1.5 miles). An almost illegible publisher’s imprint can be seen at the far right, possible M. & N. Company of Buffalo, New York?

Dated 1902 on the front and includes an additional rate sheet for the Excelsior Express and Standard Cab Company.
