A fabulous lithographed map designed by Roger Chapelet and published by Gaillac-Monrocq & Cie in Paris. Focusing on the political organization of southern Europe and northwestern Africa, this map was designed to promote the postal service, commercial shipping, and passenger liners of Compagnie de Navigation Fraissinet et Cyprien Fabre. Rail lines are highlighted in red (note the absence of such lines in most of Africa) and the routes and stopovers taken by company ships are available in green. Major cities, country names and hydrological features are also present, giving this map a decidedly “modern” look. An illustration of the General Mangin, one of the latest passenger liners to be added to the French West Africa route, dominates the lower left of this poster while several maritime ensigns flutter in the Atlantic.
