Description

This charming illustrated bird’s eye view is focused on Long Beach, California and highlights the various roads leading into the city found the surrounding region, including Los Angeles. The map includes nearby Catalina Island, as well as inset of the entire state in the lower right. Topography is depicted in a quaint pictorial style, with an image that obscures both distances and geographic realities alike.

The map was printed on the back sheet of a sixteen page guidebook to the city. It includes numerous photographs (including a large panorama of the boardwalk) and text describing the various recreational opportunities, historic sites, civic amenities and accessible transportation options available across the city. Tables of figures include statistics from 1927 and the last paragraph concludes with a request that anyone interested in further information write the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, hence the suggested date and publisher.
